Belgian broadcaster RTBF has begun searching for representatives for Eurovision Young Musicians 2024.
Belgium will be competing in the Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 in Bodø in August. Belgian public broadcaster RTBF, in collaboration with Musiq3, has launched an open call process to find representatives for the competition.
Applications for the selection process are open from January 18th to March 1st and are open to Belgian instrumentalists and/or opera singers between the ages of 12 and 21 as of August 17, 2024. There is.
The selection process will be held multiple times. The first round will consist of a 5-6 minute fixed-shot video in which the entrant interprets the solo part of the piece for soloist and orchestra with piano accompaniment. This stage will decide which performers will be invited to the second round of auditions, which will be a live piano performance in front of a jury on April 2nd at Flagey. The winner will represent Belgium in this year’s contest.
Belgium first competed in Eurovision Young Musicians in 1986. The country’s best results are his two second-place finishes. In 1990 he collaborated with Christophe Delport (accordionist) and in 1992 with Marie Hallinck (cellist). Belgium also hosted a contest in the same year. RTBF said she returned to Eurovision Young Musicians in 2018 and has participated in the contest every time since. Theis Default represented Belgium in the 2022 edition.
