Mason Greenwood is said to have told his advisers it is his “dream” to secure a move to Barcelona in the summer.
The former England international is currently on loan at Spanish side Getafe after it has been decided that he will no longer play an immediate role at Manchester United.
This came after criminal charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control against him were dropped. The 22-year-old boy denies all charges.
Greenwood is a long-term target for the Catalan giants, with reports in late December suggesting he was considering a £40m move to defect to United.
And the striker now appears to be taking baby steps towards making the move, after The Sun reported that Greenwood had told his advisers to make the move happen.
Greenwood may not have set La Liga on fire by anyone, but when he broke into United’s first team in 2019, he produced occasional flashes of quality that promised a long and successful career.
The forward currently has five goals in 19 games, but his future at parent club United is now bleak, with Greenwood now set to move to Camp Nou.
According to reports, United are seeking £40m for the striker, despite having just one year left on his contract with the Red Devils at the end of this season.
Barça sent scouts to watch Greenwood play six times this season and were reportedly impressed by his performances.
Reports late last year suggested that Greenwood was prepared to offer Greenwood the legendary No. 10 shirt once worn by club legend Lionel Messi to further his contract. .
Greenwood’s current club Getafe are also rumored to be interested in signing the forward permanently.
