Singapore Airlines flight SQ52 is a regularly scheduled flight between Changi Airport and Manchester Airport, and the affected rotation will be operated by 9V-SJB.

The 9V-SJB is a 2.7-year-old Airbus A350-900 delivered to the Singapore airline in June 2021, according to data from Planespotters.net.

The company owns 63 A350-900 aircraft, of which 59 are in active service and 4 are currently parked, with an average age of 5.0 years.

Singapore Airlines flight SQ52 departed Changi at 0233 local time this morning, heading west towards Manchester.

After two failed approaches to the airport, the aircraft initially veered south, declaring an emergency, possibly related to a lack of fuel.

Air traffic control directed the Airbus A350 to East Midlands Airport, where winds were stronger than at its original destination.

Shortly after the emergency was declared, the plane was able to land safely at East Midlands Airport, but it is unclear when it will be able to fly to Manchester.

There is no doubt that my flight back to Singapore will be delayed as a result of this.

These diversions originated from the tail end of Storm Jocelyn, which made landfall yesterday, causing a series of diversions and detours across the country.
