The Fiji government said in a Facebook post that Rabuka’s participation will advance the goals outlined in the Indo-Pacific Strategy, with a focus on jointly addressing common challenges and creating opportunities within both regions. He said it shows the government’s commitment.

Mr. Rabuka said he looked forward to participating in the dialogue on the strategic development of the Indo-Pacific region and the review of EU-Pacific cooperation under the SAMOA agreement.

The forum will bring together foreign ministers from 27 EU member states and around 30 countries in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as representatives from European institutions.

Deputy Prime Minister Manoah Kamikamika will act as Prime Minister while the Prime Minister is in Brussels.
