Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sitibuni Rabuka will participate in the 3rd EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Brussels, Belgium, this week to discuss the economic, environmental, geopolitical and security issues affecting the European Union and the Indo-Pacific region. discuss the issues.
The Ministerial Forum, chaired by Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, will promote constructive dialogue and cooperation between the 27 Member States of the European Union and a wide range of countries. It functions as a platform. The Indo-Pacific region is working towards shaping a resilient future, in line with the broader goal of strengthening regional stability and prosperity.
The Fiji government said in a Facebook post that Rabuka’s participation will advance the goals outlined in the Indo-Pacific Strategy, with a focus on jointly addressing common challenges and creating opportunities within both regions. He said it shows the government’s commitment.
Mr. Rabuka said he looked forward to participating in the dialogue on the strategic development of the Indo-Pacific region and the review of EU-Pacific cooperation under the SAMOA agreement.
The forum will bring together foreign ministers from 27 EU member states and around 30 countries in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as representatives from European institutions.
Deputy Prime Minister Manoah Kamikamika will act as Prime Minister while the Prime Minister is in Brussels.
