Singapore Airlines plans renovation of London Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 lounge

Singapore Airlines (SQ) is prepared to spend more than $4.4m (£3.5m) refurbishing its SilverKris lounge. The new lounge has a brand new look and better facilities, providing a better experience for passengers. The number of seats will also increase by 16% from 208 to 242.

The lounge at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) maintains the ‘home away from home’ concept, but takes inspiration from the SilverKris Lounge at Changi International Airport (SIN) to give passengers a ‘home away from home’ concept. It provides a unique personal space that gives you a “feeling like”.

Commenting on the refurbishment, Mohamed Rafi Mar, Singapore Airlines’ general manager for the UK and Ireland, said:

“London is a key premium market for Singapore Airlines, having served from the British capital for over 50 years. After that, we plan to deliver an even richer experience to our customers.”

The lounge first opened at London Heathrow Airport in 2015.

Passengers who frequent the lounge will have to use the facility from February 8 until it reopens in the summer. Singapore Airlines did not provide a specific date for the reopening of the SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow, saying only that a date would be announced.

SIA SilverKris Lounge

The lounge welcomes passengers with the batik screen design seen in lounges in Sydney and Hong Kong. The new lounge was designed by renowned architecture and interior design firm ONG&ONG.

The designers mimicked elements of the home after extensive research and many focus groups with customers. First class and business class passengers enjoy a separate area where hosts attend to guests.

The lounge is open daily from 0530 to 2200 and offers guests a variety of snack and meal options. Bartender service is also available from 08:00 to 2030. Facilities such as wheelchair-accessible toilets and showers are also available. To entertain guests, the airline provides internet access and television.
