A long-standing tradition in the Corning Paint Post School District is returning this month.

For the first time since 2020, Corning Painted Post students, teachers and local staff will visit San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy, less than a month before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Corning-San Giovanni Sister Cities Committee Chair Tim Ball said the trip will mark the 17th anniversary.th This is an exchange program that started in 2006.

The delegation is scheduled to return to Corning on Feb. 25, Ball said. Students and teachers will stay with host families and attend the new exchange school, Lisei Giovanni Valdarno.

“During our stay, we will also be reenacting our sister city agreement with the mayor,” Ball said. “While in Italy, we also plan to visit Florence, Venice, Rome, and other Tuscan attractions.”
