Mastermind Scholarships for Masters Study in Belgium

The Belgium Mastermind Scholarship Program offers full scholarships to outstanding students from all over the world to study eligible master’s degree programs offered at one of the participating Flemish host institutions located in Flanders and Brussels. Students from all countries (except Russia) are eligible to apply.

The scholarship covers the full tuition fees for one or two years, depending on the program chosen, and provides a grant of €10,000 in installments to cover accommodation, living and insurance costs. Scholarship recipients only pay the admission fee.

Scholarship candidates must first apply for admission to an eligible Flemish host institution. Application deadline for host institutions is from February 1, 2024 to her March 31, 2024.

This scholarship program is funded by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training, which oversees education in the Flemish region of Belgium.

Candidates must:

  • Apply and be admitted to a master’s degree course at an eligible Flemish host institution. (Students enrolled in Prep, Bridge, or Distance Learning programs are not eligible for the Mastermind Scholarship.)
  • Demonstrates excellent academic performance and potential as evidenced by a high grade point average (minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0).
  • We provide proof of English proficiency through scores on IELTS, TOEFL, or a similar official language test recognized by your host institution. (See here for minimum test scores and other eligibility criteria.)
  • Meet all the standards of the accepting organization.

How to apply

  • Candidates must first apply for admission to a master’s degree course at one or more Flemish host institutions. The host institution will begin the scholarship application process.
  • If your host institution pre-selects you for a Master Mind Scholarship, you will receive an email generated by the Mobility-Online tool. Complete your scholarship application file using the Mobility-Online tool and submit it by the deadline.

You will be asked to prepare and upload the following documents:

  • Passport photo.
  • International passport or national ID.
  • Resume with an American GPA on a scale of 4.0 (see Appendix 1 for information on how the American GPA is calculated).
  • Academic transcript. If written in a language other than Dutch, French, German, or English, a certified translation must be included.
  • English test results or exemption letter provided by the host university.
  • Letter of motivation written in English.
  • Two signed letters of recommendation written in English from previous university professors or recent employers.
  • A copy of the diploma obtained. If written in a language other than Dutch, French, German, or English, a certified translation must be included.
