Johor police are searching for the owner of a Singapore-registered car after he allegedly smashed another car’s window while driving north on Malaysia’s North-South Expressway.

Johor state police chief, Acting Commissioner of Police M. Kumar, said in a statement on February 11 that a report was lodged at 2.36pm on February 10 following an incident of road rage.

A 54-second video of the incident shared by a user on Facebook has garnered 26,000 views, 3,000 shares, 2,300 reactions and 694 comments.

“Initial investigation revealed that the incident was caused by the victim’s actions in blocking the suspect’s Mitsubishi Lancer while passing through the emergency lane along the highway,” Acting Commissioner Kumar said.

The suspect, who appeared to be a non-Malaysian, became enraged by the act and left his car, breaking the rear window of the victim’s car.

The video shows the driver of the red Lancer getting out of the car after the victim slaps him. He then used a golf club to break the back window of the other person’s car.

Acting Chief Justice Kumar advised the public not to speculate as it could affect the investigation, and said motorists should be considerate of each other and ensure each other’s safety during the Lunar New Year holiday period. added.

The case is being investigated under section 427 of the Criminal Code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
