The Amalfi Coast will build a new airport within an already existing transport hub.
Italy’s 50-kilometre-long Amalfi Coast is filled with sun-seeking tourists every summer. Its geography and topography have resulted in towering cliffs, dizzying villages, and remote rocky bays perfect for lemon cultivation. CNN reports that a new airport will be built on the Amalfi Coast within an already existing transportation hub. Salerno Costa da Malfi Airport was built in his 1926 year and previously operated as a military airport, flight school, firefighting center, and civilian airfield. Located 45 kilometers southeast of the city of Amalfi and 21 kilometers from Salerno, many travelers arriving for the coast change from the train to a local bus.

However, this business only lasted until his 2016, when the airport closed completely. The transportation hub is currently scheduled to resume international service as early as this summer.
On July 11, Spanish low-cost airline Volotea Airlines scheduled its first flight from the airport after it was given permission to resume commercial flights in January. Renovations were carried out to extend the runway to 2,000 meters and improve facilities. However, the new passenger terminal is expected to be completed in 2026 or 2027.

The Volotea service connects the Amalfi Coast with three destinations in Italy: Cagliari, Verona and Catania in Sardinia, and Nantes in France. Flights to Nantes and Cagliari are scheduled to start in July, while Verona and Catania are scheduled to start in September.
Work on the development of Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport will continue until 2043, and by completion the transport hub is expected to welcome around 6 million passengers. This will ease pressure on Naples’ Capodichino Airport, where most Amalfi Coast travelers arrive and handled a record 12.4 million passengers last year.
