The man killed in a drive-by shooting in Little Italy on Saturday was the brother of a Montreal gang leader, according to various media reports.

They identify the victim as Jean-Brandon Célestin, Jean-Philippe Célestin’s younger brother.

Authorities received several 911 calls about gunshots in the area of ​​Belchasse and Saint-Denis streets around 12:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police spokeswoman Veronique Dubac said officers arrived and found a 28-year-old man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Officers tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead a short time later at the scene.

Dubuc said preliminary information suggests one or more suspects fired shots at the victims from inside the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

No arrests were reported.

The Celestine brothers are reportedly related. Gregory WoolleyA man murdered in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, south of Montreal, in November 2023. Woolley was a member of the Hells Angels, which had ties to the Italian mafia.
