The Spain Park Jaguars entered the season with high expectations and have lived up to their expectations so far with a 6-0 start and the right hardware.

The Jags won three straight in the tournament, defeating Spanish Fort and James Clemens of White County, Georgia, to win the Lakeshore Division Gold Division title.

Spain Park attacked on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, scoring 17 goals in three games, all with clean sheets.

Tasked with starting the tournament on Thursday, February 15th against the 7A James Clemens Jets, the Jags got right to work and went to work in the opener.

Just two days after a 10-0 win over McAdory, Spain Park’s offense racked up points, firing three goals past the Jets’ back line.

On the other side of the field, the Jags’ defense kept the scoreboard scoreless and they won 3-0.

The next day, Spain Park faced Spanish Fort in hopes of moving one step closer to the division title.

The Jags started attacking the Jets, scoring goal after goal on the Toros. He ultimately scored 7 points in his dominant performance offensively.

After that, they did not allow a goal and achieved a shutout victory with a score of 7-0.

This leaves Spain Park one game away from winning the district, a showdown with White County in Georgia on Saturday, February 17th.

The Border War matchup proved to be uneventful as the Jags replicated their offensive performance against Spanish Fort.

Spain Park scored seven goals in consecutive games, increasing their total points in the tournament to 17.

In addition, they finished the tournament without allowing a goal in four consecutive games and won the Gold Division.

The win moved the Jags to third place in the Class 7A coaches poll.

In the same division, Oak Mountain continued its strong start to the season, finishing in third place.

The Eagles got off to a strong start with a home win against the Huntsville Panthers on Thursday, February 15th.

Oak Mountain took advantage of the week of rest and had a good performance on both ends of the field. They outscored Huntsville’s defense by four goals and kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 victory.

The next night, the scene moved to the Eagle Sports Complex, and the result was the same as the Eagles defeated the Homewood Patriots.

Oak Mountain ramped up the offensive pressure with three goals in the first half, securing an early 3-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Eagles replicated that by adding three goals in the second half and didn’t concede a goal for the third straight game.

This was enough to win 6-0 and remain undefeated in the Lakeshore Shootout.

In the tournament finale on Saturday, Feb. 17, Oak Mountain faced James Clemens in a 7A matchup for the second time this week.

In the first half, the Eagles scored a goal before halftime and took control of the game, taking a 1-0 lead.

Oak Mountain stayed in front for much of the game, but its defense was unable to hold its opponents to four straight scoreless innings.

The Jets broke through the Eagles’ backline and scored, tying the score at one point apiece. Oak Mountain was unable to respond before the final whistle, resulting in a 1-1 tie and ending their winning streak at five.

Although the winning streak ended, the Eagles extended their undefeated streak to six games and finished in third place in the Gold Division.
