SINGAPORE: As climate change intensifies, scorching heat, extreme rainfall and rising sea levels will pose further challenges for Singapore, according to a report released by the Singapore Climate Research Center on Friday.
Singapore’s Third National Climate Change Survey shows that the city-state is expected to warm, with average annual temperatures expected to rise by 0.55 degrees Celsius per decade by the end of this century under high emissions scenarios. Masu.

The report noted that Singapore’s rainfall fluctuates widely on a seasonal scale and warned that severe climate change will make rainfall increasingly imbalanced.
According to the document, the total rainfall during the dry season could fall significantly below the historic low of 314 mm, about once every three years, by the end of this century, while the total seasonal rainfall during the rainy season could reach an all-time high of 1,507 mm. The report said sea level rise is a major challenge for Singapore amid climate change, with average sea levels around the state expected to rise by 0.23 to 1.15 meters by the end of this century and under high emissions by 2150.
