SINGAPORE — The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) confirmed on Monday (8 January) that all 900 slots for this year’s Haj pilgrimage have been allocated to eligible pilgrims.
Last year, Singapore was also allocated 900 slots, but it initially had 407 slots before the city-state was allocated more slots in 2022.
Singapore has been allocated 900 places each year since 2018. MUIS did not send pilgrims for Hajj in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
MUIS reveals that 54,000 pilgrims are waiting their turn in AHRS queues
MUIS said in a media release that all prospective pilgrims have been contacted based on their queue position in the pre-hajj registration system. They confirmed their location and purchased Hajj packages from authorized travel agents.
MUIS stressed that there are still approximately 54,000 potential pilgrims waiting their turn to enter the registration system.
On behalf of Singapore’s Muslim community, the council expressed its appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s “efforts and strong commitment” to promoting the welfare and safety of pilgrims while fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam. .
Change in application fee
Haj registrations have been done through the MyHajSG portal since last year and each registration requires an application fee.
According to MUIS, the application fee from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025 is S$285 per applicant.
From 1 January 2026, the price will increase to S$330. These charges do not include the current Goods and Services Tax (GST) charges, MUIS added.
Singapore’s Islamic Affairs Minister signs Hajj Agreement in Jeddah
Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of State for Islamic Affairs, attended the Hajj and Umrah Exhibition and Conference in Jeddah from January 7th to 11th and signed an agreement on Hajj with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
According to Masagos’ Facebook post on Monday, MUIS contacted potential pilgrims through the MyHajSG portal last month.
“They have received offer letters to perform the Hajj this year, but the early notice allows them to apply for time off, arrange for their loved one’s care needs, and prepare physically, financially and emotionally for the journey. We were able to plan ahead,” Masagos said in a Facebook post.
“We wish a blessed Hajj to those who have been selected and whose locations have been confirmed.”
