Opera Don Bosco Onlus Foundation presents global project

Italy

(mission news wire) Opera Don Bosco Onrus Foundation in Milan, Italy, celebrates 10 years of work to provide education and basic necessities to the most vulnerable people. On its anniversary, the Foundation highlighted projects made possible by its donors. One Salesian said: We focus on how to repair the problem itself. ”

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine*, the Foundation has focused on the plight of the Ukrainian people. The foundation is providing assistance in Lviv, where Mariapolis was built to accommodate around 1,000 refugees from the eastern region of the country. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the necessary funds were raised and sent throughout the year to support the activities of Mariapolis Camp.

When faced with the earthquake emergency in Syria, the Salesians in Aleppo and Damascus immediately provided support and assistance to the affected populations. After the initial relief efforts, donors supported reconstruction and psychosocial support. This project was carried out in cooperation with the Don Bosco Lugano Opera House.

Another donation project provided a new oven for Salesian Bakery in Bethlehem. This historic facility has been in operation for 130 years and plays an important role in the life of the local community, providing free bread to those most in need. Additionally, students come to learn the bakery trade. The old oven was more than 20 years old, required regular maintenance, was inefficient and did not meet occupational safety standards.

“Thanks to the generosity of those who support our mission, we are able to respond to emergencies and foster social development in many communities in need,” said Foundation President Michele Rigamonti. In the past period, the Foundation has responded to humanitarian emergencies in several regions, including Syria*, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar*, Democratic Republic of the Congo*, and Venezuela*. We have contributed to growth and education through education and vocational training projects in Burundi*, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Myanmar, Peru and Rwanda. Additionally, we have contributed to growth and education through education and vocational training projects in Brazil, Ethiopia*, Ghana, Senegal and Timor-Leste. We have promoted agricultural and food projects to contribute to the lives of many children and their families.”

Rigamonti added: “Our mission is much more than that. We will continue to touch the hearts of many people and show ourselves in a tangible way to those who need it most, especially children and young people. We will encourage them to do so and provide them with opportunities for the future.”

A number of projects are already underway for next year. These include the Let’s Go to School project in Gambella, Ethiopia, and the Health and Well-Being for the Poorest Families in Tegucigalpa initiative in Honduras., Additionally, you will have the opportunity to support an entire community of young people remotely in different parts of the world for a year.
