Nestlé Spain has invested €300,000 in the renovation and expansion of its condensed milk facility in Pontecéles, Galicia.

The project saw Nestlé Spain renovate its production facilities and expand the loading preparation area, among other efforts, the company said.

Plant Manager Julio Diniz added: “This reform has increased the plant’s ability to respond to truck loading and unloading operations, making our logistics operations more agile.”

“Furthermore, the project has resulted in a significant modernization of the area through the introduction of new technologies and practices, further improving the safety of people and the quality of products.”

Ponte Sesur Facility

The Nestlé factory in Pontecès Les is one of the oldest in Spain, with an average workforce of around 200 people.

This facility was part of Irepsa (Industria Lechera Peninsula, SA), a Nestlé-owned company founded on February 1, 1938.

Founded in 1939, the factory produced its first can of condensed milk in August of the same year.

In 1983, it became the group’s only factory in Spain dedicated to the production of condensed milk.

Since 2012, this factory is also the only Nestlé factory producing this product in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

In addition, Nestlé Vietnam plans to invest $100 million (91.3 million euros) in a Trian coffee factory in the southern province of Dong Nai.

The investment will increase production capacity and enable Nestlé to meet the growing demand for coffee both domestically and internationally, the company added.

Nestlé plans to immediately shift the equivalent of half of the world’s transport needs to alternative, low-emission fuels.
