Qantas launches Darwin-Singapore route

Singapore, 19 January 2024: Qantas has announced that it will reintroduce direct flights between Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory and Singapore in December this year. The last time it operated a direct flight between Singapore and Darwin was in 2006.

From 9 December 2024, Qantas’ new flights will add more than 60,000 seats per year, giving visitors to Australia a convenient gateway to access the Changi Airport hub and connect to other destinations in Asia. The airline will initially operate five weekly flights using dual-class Embraer E190 aircraft, with plans to increase to daily flights in March 2025.

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said the Darwin flight was a welcome addition to the airline’s international network from Singapore.

Mr Wallace said: “We are excited to offer new routes for our customers and strengthen the important trade, business and tourism links between Singapore and Australia.”

“For Singaporeans who want to visit Darwin, or travel to Alice Springs, Adelaide or other cities, this direct flight is good news, eliminating the need to transit through other Australian capitals and saving hours of travel time. You can save money.

“This new service will make it much easier for Qantas customers from Singapore and other parts of Asia to incorporate Darwin into their Australian itineraries and experience everything the Northern Territory has to offer.”

This new route is in addition to other Australian destinations that Qantas currently serves from Singapore, including Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
