A taste of Italy returns to Mayfield Heights.

Taste of Italy returns to Mayfield Heights on February 10th. This will be the first time the event has resumed since it was forced to be suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mayfield Heights Council President Donald Manno said the event had the highest attendance in years past.

“This is the first comeback since COVID-19 and the destruction of the old community buildings,” Manno said. “It’s a big event every year, and it’s an event that gets so many participants every year. It’s very rewarding because you get so many positive comments from people. It’s one of the big events we put on as a city. We have lots of prizes and delicious food for you.”

The Taste of Italy Italian dinner will include pasta, meatballs, sausage, chicken cutlets, appetizer plates and a pastry table, according to a post on the city’s website. Raffle baskets with 50/50 drawings will also be held throughout the night.

Manno said one of the highlights of the party, which is always popular, is the homemade wine contest. Participants will make their own wine and a panel of judges will decide the winner.

“It’s been going on for years,” Manno said. “Funds raised may be used by the Recreation Department for community building or to fund other activities we do for parks and recreation.

“Anything you can do to offset the budget that we’re striving for, all of this revenue is going to go there so we can deliver bigger and better things for everyone. .”

Tickets for the event are $50 per person. The purchase deadline is February 2nd or until tickets are sold out. Tickets are available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Aquatic and Community Center. You can also purchase by calling 440-442-2627.

The deadline for bringing homemade wine into the Recreation Department is also February 2nd.
