Geronimo Noriega is an American expatriate who has shown no interest in returning to his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. The 27-year-old student has been living in Oviedo, Asturias, in northwest Spain, for the past 14 months after his family decided to pack up and explore a new lifestyle.

Noriega is the first to admit that the pay is better in Texas. But everything balances out when you factor in the cost of living. He said people in Spain who earn around 30,000 euros (about 3.3 million yen) a year are “middle class” and that someone who earns 90,000 euros (about 98,000 yen) could live like a king.
“Listen, if I was making $900,000 in northern Spain, where I live now, I would be working in a limousine. After work, I’d be having drinks at a tennis club,” Noriega said in the video. Told. But what he really hasn’t forgotten about his life back in Texas is the rise-and-grind lifestyle.

“Now that I’ve had a taste of what life is like outside of the rat race, I have no desire to get behind the wheel again,” he told Business Insider. “Life is long and you never know what’s going to happen, but I’m staying here for the time being. All I have to do is take a walk to the coffee shop, have a nice dinner for $11, or All you have to do is take a break in the middle and remember why you’re here.”
