An attractive map reveals the world’s busiest international flight routes, with Kuala Lumpur to Singapore’s Changi Flight 1 and London Heathrow Airport to JFK ranked 8th.

Kuala Lumpur to Singapore Changi was the busiest international flight in 2023, according to the airline data firm.

It is at the top of the ranking by OAG, shown on a world map, created by measuring the routes with the highest number of airline scheduled seats in both directions.

Last year, the number of available seats on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore Changi route was 4,891,952, surpassing the second-placed route, Cairo-Jeddah, with 4,795,712 seats. In third place was Hong Kong and Taipei with 4,568,280 seats.

Meanwhile, London Heathrow Airport to JFK Airport ranked 8th with 3,878,590 seats.

The busiest domestic flight in 2023 was Jeju-Seoul (13,728,786 flights), and the busiest domestic flight in the United States was Honolulu-Kahului (3,612,212 flights).

The map above shows the busiest international routes in 2023, with rankings calculated based on airlines’ scheduled seat capacity, according to OAG.

The rest of the top 10 busiest international flights in 2023 is Seoul-Incheon-Osaka-Kansai (4th place, 4,218,484 flights). Seoul Incheon to Tokyo Narita (5th place, 4,155,418 passengers). Dubai to Riyadh (6th place, 3,990,076 people). From Jakarta to Singapore Changi (7th place, 3,910,502 people). From Bangkok to Changi, Singapore (9th place, 3,478,474 people), and from Bangkok to Seoul, Incheon (10th place, 3,362,968 people).

Comparing this result to the 2019 ranking, OAG said that half of the top 10 busiest international flights were not in the 2019 top 10.

Cairo to Jeddah (2nd place), Seoul Incheon to Osaka Kansai (4th place), Seoul Incheon to Tokyo Narita (5th place), Dubai to Riyadh (6th place), and Bangkok to Incheon (10th place).

The busiest domestic flight in 2023 was scheduled to be Jeju-Seoul, with 13,728,786 seats.
New York JFK to London Heathrow is ranked 8th (top) on the list of busiest international routes with a seating capacity of 3,878,590.

The runner-up in the domestic ranking was the route from Hokkaido’s Chitose Airport to Tokyo Haneda, with a seating capacity of 11,936,302.

Fukuoka to Tokyo Haneda follows closely in third place with 11,264,229 seats, with OAG noting that “the difference in capacity between second and third place is only 6 percent.”

The rest of the top 10 domestic routes were Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (4th place, 10,883,555). Melbourne-Sydney (5th place, 9,342,312 people). Beijing-Shanghai Hongqiao (6th place, 8,355,225 people). From Tokyo Haneda to Okinawa Naha (7th place, 7,982,218 people). Jeddah to Riyadh (8th place, 7,902,142 people). Mumbai to Delhi (9th place, 7,276,430 people) and Jakarta to Denpasar Bali (10th place, 7,190,961 people).

OAG added that the Jakarta-Denpasar route is the only route not in the top 10 of the top 10 busiest domestic routes in 2019.

Honolulu (above) to Kahului is the busiest domestic flight in the U.S. with 3,612,212 seats, according to OAG.

Atlanta to Orlando is the second busiest domestic route in the United States with 3,515,882 seats, followed by Las Vegas to Los Angeles in third place with 3,496,170 seats.

Rounding out the top 10 busiest U.S. domestic flights was New York JFK to Los Angeles (4th place, 3,241,663 flights). Denver-Las Vegas (5th place, 3,198,098 people). Los Angeles to San Francisco (6th place, 3,130,328 people). Atlanta-Fort Lauderdale (7th place, 3,045,220 people). Denver to Phoenix (8th place, 3,040,961 people). Atlanta to New York LaGuardia (9th place, 2,707,958 people) and Los Angeles to Chicago O’Hare (10th place, 2,672,269 people).

OAG ranks among the top 10 busiest domestic routes in the U.S., although it was not in the top 10 in 2019, including Honolulu-Kahului (1st), Denver-Las Vegas (5th), and Denver-Phoenix (8th). ) revealed that there were three routes.

The Los Angeles-San Francisco route was the busiest route in the U.S. in 2019, but in 2023, capacity decreased by 33%, dropping it to sixth place.
