Ashley Brooke, a standout soccer player from the Turks and Caicos Islands, has been drafted by Italy’s Warriors Bologna team.

Brooks told The Sun that he had always dreamed of playing American football, adding that he vividly remembers the year and draft that made him decide this was the path for him, the 2012 NFL Draft. Ta.

“Seeing guys like Andrew Luck and RG3 grace and glorify this sport made me a fan of Die Hart and wanted to play quarterback ever since,” he said. said. “However, my path to achieving this was not easy because, as I mentioned earlier, we do not play American football in Turks and Caicos Islands. I started playing basketball in 2013. I left home for the first time after getting a scholarship to attend college. I was able to attend a prep school in Dallas, Texas. I accessed the opportunity.

The son of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Dr Angela Brooks and her husband Desmond added: , and so it turned out. After two years at prep school, I earned a scholarship to play basketball at an HBCU, Paul Quinn College in Dallas. When I graduated in 2019, I joined a local semi-pro team called the Dallas Vikings. This was my first experience of real football. I played two seasons as a backup, learning the game and getting reps whenever I could. ”

Ashley said that after the last two seasons, she learned about an agency called Play Overseas. This is a program that allows athletes who may have used all their university eligibility in the US to continue playing their sport in the UK while completing a master’s degree.

“I jumped at the opportunity and within a few months I was heading to England to play for coach Dale at Leeds Beckett University. My disability is not over yet. In particular, he broke his elbow after just two games, which ultimately put him out of contention for playing time. He was able to return, but was once again on the sidelines, which was frustrating to say the least. “Things happened, but I never got discouraged,” he added.

“My teammate Nick Alberto helped me open a professional account with an agency called Europlayers after the season ended, and within a few months we were receiving interest from Ray teams from all over Europe. Fast forward to 2024 and I have played for two professional teams in Romania and Paris and am currently embarking on a third contract playing with the Warriors in Bologna, Italy. Nevertheless, it is a story of perseverance and defiance of hardship. My hope is that I can encourage other young people in the Turks and Caicos Islands to pursue their dreams, no matter what they are, because they may never come true. Because I don’t know if I will.”
