In spring 2024, Belgium will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This is an ideal opportunity for Beaux Arts to present an original Belgian program with his three exhibitions focusing on iconic figures in Belgian art history.

Histoire de ne pas rire celebrates 100 years of surrealism with a major retrospective. Surrealism influenced many Belgian writers and artists and was one of the most important movements of the 20th century. This exhibition shows the strangeness of the Belgian scene and its connections with international surrealism. The Histoire de ne pas rire features over 250 paintings by artists such as René Magritte, Marcel Marien, Jane Graverolle, ELT Messens, Rachel Bays, Salvador Dali, Giorgio de Chirico and Max Ernst. , a collection of objects, drawings, collages, and photographs. Also included are over 100 documents, magazines, posters, and brochures.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of James Ensor’s death, Ensor Years are planned in Ostend, Brussels and Antwerp. With James Unser. Maestro Beaux-Arts pays homage to the master’s versatility, focusing on the connections between music, ballet and theater. Beaux-Arts also introduces Chantal Akerman. Traveling is the first major retrospective exhibition dedicated to Brussels-based filmmakers, writers and artists. Her film Jeanne Dielman was recently hailed as the greatest film of all time. This touring exhibition at Jeu de Paume (Paris) traces Akerman’s unconventional career from its beginnings.
