Belgium plans to provide Ukraine with 611 million euros in military aid in 2024 to help modernize its military. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed these plans by phone with Belgian Defense Ministry Secretary Ludivine Desdonder.
“We discussed recent events on the front and the prospects for defense cooperation between our two countries,” Rustem Umerov said.
Foreign Minister Umerov expressed his gratitude to the Belgian military and air force coalition, especially for its participation in the pilot training program.
“We are very grateful for the unwavering support of our Belgian partners. This year, Belgium will provide 611 million euros in military aid and is committed to long-term efforts to support the modernization of our armed forces. ” Umerov said.
Dedonder did not comment on the conversation, but said on X’s official social media page: Reposted Posts from the official account of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine regarding these negotiations.
Belgium has repeatedly provided financial aid to Ukraine. Last year, the country provided one of the largest aid packages to increase military support to Ukraine.
In addition, Belgium is actively participating in the training of Ukrainian pilots of F-16 aircraft.
