BGMEA asks Singapore Port Authority for faster and seamless transshipment of RMG goods

DHAKA, 30 January 2024 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Apparel Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has called on the Port Authority of Singapore for faster and seamless transhipment of Bangladeshi RMG goods.
The request was made when the BGMEA delegation led by President Faruque Hassan met with PSA International’s Vice President Alfred Sim and Assistant Vice President for Group Business Development Lim Wei Chan.

According to a press release, the meeting was also attended by Rusfan Nahar Sip, Commercial Advisor of the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore.
Discussions during the meeting revolved around mutual benefits and mainly focused on the transshipment process of Bangladeshi exports through Singapore Port.
BGMEA Chairman Faruque Hassan emphasized the need for smooth and speedy services for Bangladeshi export items transported through Singapore.
He urged PSA International to consider expanding its services in Bangladesh and providing port services at competitive prices in the shortest possible time.
The BGMEA delegation visited the Port of Singapore to experience first-hand the port operations and the various services provided by PSA International.
Mr. Alfred Sim and Mr. Lim Wei Chan expressed their gratitude for the visit and affirmed PSA International’s cooperation in facilitating a smooth transshipment process for Bangladeshi export goods.
