BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain will be flown back to Singapore on Sunday for advanced treatment as his condition deteriorated.

“My father suffered a brain hemorrhage. He is not feeling well,” his second son, barrister Khandaker Maruf Hossain, told UNB on Saturday.

He said the BNP leader was being transferred to Singapore’s National University Hospital on the advice of doctors at Evercare Hospital.

“All preparations have been completed to take him to Singapore on the Singapore Airlines flight at 11.30pm on Sunday,” Mr Maruf said.

He called on the people, including BNP leaders and activists, to pray for the early recovery of his ailing father.

Mosharraf Hossain is currently receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital under the supervision of neurologist Professor Khandaker Mahbubur Rahman.

Mosharraf, a 76-year-old former health minister, was admitted to the capital’s Evercare Hospital on June 18 last year after suffering a stroke. He received treatment there for eight days.

On the advice of doctors at Evercare Hospital, BNP leaders visited the Singapore National Hospital on June 27 in search of better treatment.

While undergoing treatment in Singapore, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Given his age, doctors pre-administered radiation therapy instead of surgery to manage the adverse effects of the tumor.

After two months and 10 days of treatment, he returned from Singapore on September 5th.

He became unwell again and was admitted to Evercare Hospital on December 5th.
