A chalet known as La Fenice, located 95 feet above sea level and overlooking the Matterhorn in the Italian town of Cervinia, has been listed by Savills for $26.29 million, making it the highest-priced property ever seen in the Italian Alps. According to the paper, Mansion Global.

(Of note, this only applies to the Italian side of the cross-border mountain range, with the nearby Swiss Alps producing more expensive pads.)

“The most expensive chalet on the open market in the Italian Alps, Chalet La Fenice, which means phoenix in Italian, is one of the finest chalets I have ever seen.” said Jeremy Rollason, listing representative and director. Savills Ski told the Post. “With dramatic views of the Matterhorn and unparalleled spa and recreational facilities, this chalet has everything you need in an alpine home.”

The site dates back to 1936 and has been known since its construction for its dramatic placement beneath a pyramid-shaped peak.

“At the time, the chalet was known for its spectacular views of the Matterhorn, its surroundings and surrounding botanical gardens, and is said to have been regularly visited by Italian royalty,” the listing states, adding that the mansion was recently renovated from 5 It added that two major renovation works had been carried out. It was rebuilt in 1999, but the original stone building has been preserved.

This listing will be the first time the property has been put on the market since its renovation.

Highlights of the renovated six-story space include elevator access, a multi-paneled reception room, numerous fireplaces, seven bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, and more. The bedroom has a private balcony.
