Our readers experienced incredible travel adventures last year, including hiking Kauai’s Na Pali Coast, bear viewing in Alaska, and island hopping in Ireland. And lucky for us, they shared their journeys and offered practical tips along the way.
Today’s adventure comes from a Menlo Park couple who love paella.

Spain: In September, Menlo Park residents Kate and Ted Kimelman traveled to Europe “to learn about Spanish and French culture, history and wine,” Kate said. “We started with a cooking class in Barcelona, where we made gazpacho, paella, pan con tomato, tortilla de España, and crème brûlée. We then all sat at a long table and enjoyed delicious Spanish wine and good company. It was a great hands-on way to learn about Spanish cuisine and bond as a group.”
Travel tips: “Cooking classes are popular, so please make reservations early.”
