Hsu Tzu, co-founder of now-defunct crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, was released from a Singaporean prison last month after serving a three-month sentence for non-cooperation with liquidators. He looked back on his time in prison and talked about it. In his next podcast interview, he surprised many by characterizing it as a “really fun experience.”
Mr Zhu claimed he had the “best sleep” of his life while serving time in a Singapore prison and suggested everyone should experience time in solitary confinement at least once. Although he could not recommend it highly, he emphasized that there were positive aspects to the overall experience.
Zhu said he used his time in prison to read, exercise regularly and enjoy a balanced diet, including daily fruit. Despite sleeping on the floor without a built-in bed, he likened his experience to Japanese tatami mats, which he claimed were beneficial in relieving pressure on his spine.
Zhu described a “magical feeling” as he adjusted to life in prison, claiming a connection to his ancestors and saying, “In fact, this is how I was supposed to live.”

Zhu’s remarks sparked a variety of reactions online. Laurence Day, creator of the Wildcat Protocol, said, “Sue Tzu was terminally ill online, so she could experience the same ‘ancestral closeness’ that others get by logging off and logging back in. I literally had to go to jail for that,” he said sarcastically. Walking barefoot on the beach where the cool breeze blows. ” Some noted that experiences may vary depending on prison location.
