Federal investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding a New Jersey man who has been missing since 2019 and was last seen hiking in a remote area of Italy. .
Liam Biran, from Marlborough, went missing in 2019 after visiting his grandparents in Israel and then traveling to Italy. He was 32 years old at the time of his disappearance.
Bilan left for Israel on April 8, 2019, and was scheduled to fly home from Paris on May 16, 2019. In the meantime, Bilan was scheduled to travel to Italy’s wine region before heading to France to return to the United States.
Authorities said Bilan was not on the flight home from Paris. An investigation by Italian police revealed that his last credit card purchase was a train ticket to Turin, Italy. Investigators also discovered that Bilan was in the Aosta Valley, staying in several hostels while befriending other tourists.
Information about when Bilan was last seen or when he last used his credit card was not immediately available Friday.
According to his family, Biran loved to travel and dreamed of becoming a sommelier someday. He also ran an online blog about his love of wine.
Bilan has light brown hair and brown eyes, is 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has a muscular build and a gap between his two front teeth.
