Sustainable architectural principles were at the heart of the project and materials were selected accordingly. Piles were installed instead of concrete to raise the shelter and allow tree roots to pass underneath. The building is constructed of wood, insulated with a membrane and finished with glass panels on the exterior. Meanwhile, brushed metal accents give it a reflective look that changes with the seasons.

The underlying philosophy of the restaurant and shelter is to embody modernity and forward-thinking design while embracing the natural environment.
