SYDNEY (AP) — Caroline Garcia and Adrian Mannarino led France to a victory over Italy on Wednesday and a place in the United Cup quarterfinals.
In the men’s singles, Mannarino defeated Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets, and in the women’s singles, Garcia defeated Jasmine Paolini 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, giving France an absolute 2-0 lead heading into the mixed doubles. I gave him the lead and took the lead. Group D.
France will face Group F winners Norway in the quarter-finals at Sydney’s Ken Rosewall Arena on Thursday.

Greece will play Canada in Sydney later on Wednesday in their final Group B game. Greece, who had to survive without Stefanos Tsitsipas in their first game against Chile, must beat Canada to have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals. If Canada wins, they will win the group.
Poland will play China in the first quarter-final in Perth later on Wednesday, before top-ranked Serbia, led by Novak Djokovic, will take on Australia in the night session.
Djokovic struggled with a wrist injury throughout the tournament, but found a way to defeat Jiri Rehecica in the final Group E match between Serbia and the Czech Republic.
The winners of these two quarter-finals will travel to Sydney for the semi-finals.
