A senior Philippine Department of Transportation official said on Friday that the government is seeking more investment in the country’s aviation industry to make the Philippines a travel and commercial trade center in the Asia-Pacific region and a jumping-off point to North America.
At a press conference on the country’s participation in the Singapore Air Show, which will be held from February 20 to February 25, Aviation and Airport Transportation Undersecretary Roberto Lim said the strengths and opportunities of the Philippine aviation industry will bring the Philippines into the international community. Citing Republic Act No. 11659, or the Revised Civil Service Act, Lim said the Philippines is now open to foreign investment, including airports that may be 100% owned by foreign companies.
