SINGAPORE — Every household in Singapore will get extra money in their pockets from Wednesday (3 January) to help with their daily expenses, as the government begins distributing the latest Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers. You will need to enter 500 Singapore dollars.
The January 2024 CDC vouchers will be distributed to approximately 1.27 million households in Singapore, costing the government S$635 million.
Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said at the launch event that the vouchers are part of the government’s comprehensive support package to cushion the impact of inflation.
As with the previous round, vouchers can be claimed digitally at go.gov.sg/cdcv. Her one member from each household can log in with her Singpass account and claim her CDC voucher on behalf of the household.
The voucher is valid until December 31, 2024 and will be sent to the applicant’s registered mobile number. Applicants can use the link to share it with other family members.
Half of the coupons can be used at supermarkets and the other half at hawker stalls and Heartland shops.
More merchants join
According to Wong, who is also the country’s finance minister, about 23,000 merchants will be participating in the scheme in 2024, double the number in 2021.
Eight supermarkets, including Ang Mo Supermarket, Giant Singapore, Hao Mart, NTUC Fairprice, Prime Supermarket, Sheng Xiong and U-Stars Supermarket, which have 415 stores across the island, are also participating in the 2024 plan. . Cold storage joined the scheme this year.
The 2023 vouchers had the highest claims of all tranches to date, with 97.7 percent of the 1.27 million eligible households claiming the vouchers as of December 31, 2023.
More than S$360 million, or 96.5%, of the vouchers claimed were spent at participating hawkers, downtown shops and supermarkets.
The CDC Voucher website will also continue to accept voucher donations through the end of January.
