LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The NFL announced it will bring games to Spain in 2025 to grow its international brand. 8 News Now spoke to two international journalists about how Spain could be the next big market for the NFL.
Tristan Afshar and Nacho Garcia of Spain’s state-run daily sports website Marca said American football’s appeal could capture the attention of many people around the world.
“Yeah, they just announced the Madrid game today, but that’s unknowingly huge for international growth and things like that. The NFL has a niche market in Spain, especially with Real Madrid. They say they want to grow it now in the hope of partnering with the Spanish market to take the Spanish market by storm. To continue to grow at the same rate as other countries such as Germany, the UK and Brazil. ,” Afshar said.
When asked if there was any backlash to embracing the NFL’s version of the sport, Garcia said the sport is still growing.
“Soccer is definitely the number one sport in Spain. The NFL is growing a lot right now, so the deal between the NFL and Real Madrid is great for both sides,” Garcia said.
The match in Spain will be played at the Real Madrid stadium. The NFL team they will face has not yet been announced.
