Janet Kay Spain, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born March 30, 1939 in Seneca, Ohio, the daughter of the late Allen Eugene Schultz and Mildred Lucille (Meisner) Schultz.
On January 19, 1965, Janet married Lawrence Eugene Spain in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1984. Janet was also preceded in death by her son, Gerald “Jerry” Eugene Spain;
Janet is survived by three daughters, Lisa (Dwight) Spain Collier, Joetta (Jeff Payne) Spain, and Michelle Spain; She is survived by two granddaughters, Courtney (Danny) Collier Rosenberg and Brittany Collier; her brother James (Nedra) Schultz and several nieces and nephews.
In her younger years, Janet worked at the Vicario shoe store in Bellefontaine and later as a loan officer at Farm Credit Services. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bellefontaine and served in Martha Circle. She was a member of the King’s Daughters and Sons and enjoyed the bridge club most of her life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Eichholtz Dering & Sanford Funeral Home and Crematory, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine, with Pastor Joe Giraldo officiating in the afternoon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at 12:00 PM at Bellefontaine Cemetery, Bellefontaine, Ohio.
