Spanish soccer player Jenni Hermoso has opened up about her sexuality and how it is “much easier” to come out in the women’s game than the men’s.
Hermoso made headlines last year after the former Spanish president, Luis Rubiales, kissed him on the lips without his consent after Spain’s World Cup final victory over England, which shocked the soccer world. .
The 33-year-old, who became a bit of a celebrity in Spain after condemning the kiss and coming forward to promote the Me Too movement in the country, has now decided to speak out about her sexuality.
She said that coming out as a female soccer player was much easier, although she never talked about it with her family since she was young, but male soccer players have an even bigger problem. He also admitted that he was facing difficulties.
“I never explicitly told my parents that I liked girls,” she told the Spanish TV show Planeta Calleja. “It’s something that was always taboo, but we didn’t really have to discuss it openly. People around me knew it.” Her parents weren’t stupid either.

Speaking about his love life, Hermoso, who is currently single, said that previously his personal life got in the way of his performance on the pitch, but now he has found “stability” in his life.
“I’ve been in love before, but not now,” she added. “That’s one of the best things I’ve discovered: how to live with yourself.
“My personal life and my life as a football player have always been closely linked. If I had a problem, my football would have been a disaster. Especially if my heart was broken, it would be It can be intense. Fortunately, I feel stable now.”
Hermoso’s candid talk about her personal life comes after a whirlwind year in which she was thrust into the spotlight on Kissgate.
