HONOLULU (KHON2) — It’s time to get a taste of Singapore in the heart of Oahu’s Kakaako Strait.

Wake Up 2Day features a stacked bar, comfortable lounge, and newly designed restaurant with general manager and partner Shishido Pomaikai, bartender Brian Southwick, sous chef Christian Hidalgo, and head chef Reed Matsumura. We had a special tour of the space.
It has been about two months since Strait arrived from San Francisco, California.
“We’ve been around since 1987, so the concept already existed. There wasn’t much to do, just find a location and turn this place into what it is. And you know what? As such, we are here,” said Straits General Manager Pomaikai Shishido.
The interior was designed by Shishido’s business partners.
But the atmosphere and decor are just the beginning of what makes this place special.
“I mean, lots of cocktails, everything we have here, homemade syrups, you know our place is a fun place to eat,” Sicido said. “So we wanted the food and cocktails to match that. The glassware is lovely, it tastes so good, and it’s so much fun.”
When it comes to food, Strait’s menu offers complex flavors influenced by cuisines from around Southeast Asia.
