U.S. Ambassador to Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Matt Murray will visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from February 14th to 17th, and Singapore from February 17th to 21st. Ambassador Murray will meet with government officials and the U.S. business community in both cities, highlighting America’s extensive economic engagement in the region as outlined in the Prosperity Pillar of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

Ambassador Malay will be in Kuala Lumpur to participate in the first APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) meeting of the year to help lay the groundwork for expanded public-private cooperation during APEC 2024. The ABAC meeting will be chaired by the wife of the ABAC 2024 chairperson of Peru. Julia Torreblanca will explore ways to advance APEC’s agenda, including through the annual dialogue between ABAC and APEC senior officials.

Ambassador Malay will be in Singapore to participate in APEC Outcomes 2023/Outlook 2024, an event hosted by the APEC Secretariat that will focus on the United States and Peru. During this event, he will highlight key achievements of the US APEC host year, along with insights from the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders Week and its impact on the future of the APEC region.
