Mamie Kitchen, which specializes in Italian street food, is now open at 7900 Santa Monica Blvd., at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. The new eatery will have a soft opening in late January and preparations are underway for a grand opening later this month.
Owner Michael told WEHO TIMES that he is currently relying on word of mouth and has not set up a website or promoted his business through social media. He said he was pleased to be able to get the word out and contribute to the local community, which includes people from all walks of life and all ages.
Mamie specializes in pizza, sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Products are freshly baked as the facility has its own bakery station that bakes its own bread and pizza dishes.
“We have an in-house bakery,” he said. “We have our bakers come in and we make the dough ourselves that we use for our pizzas and ciabatta sandwiches. We serve Roman-style pizza every day. So we make everything here. The toppings… We make everything ourselves, we buy all our meat from small producers, and it’s all Italian.”
Michael has lived in West Hollywood for 30 years and says he knows the area well. His son Leo currently attends an elementary school in West Hollywood. He is grateful for the support of his community and has been touched by the number of local residents who have stopped by his restaurant, whether they were passing by or heard from a friend that it was open. He said he is doing so.
He loves being on the corner of a busy intersection, but some of the anticipated challenges include a lack of parking in the area, homelessness issues, and people suffering from mental health issues, primarily due to substance use. He also stated that: Can be noisy in corners.
But we’re confident that we serve fresh, delicious food that everyone will love, so stop by and give it a try.
Mamie Kitchen is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Due to soft opening, menu is currently limited. For more information, call (323) 848-4894.
