Mangaluru, January 27: On January 24, Coordinators of the Belgian agency Joy for Kids, Daniel de Clercq, Liselotte Vaissinot and Jolinde Melgan, visited CODP, a diocesan NGO in the Diocese of Mangalore.
The group arrived at 2:30 p.m. and was greeted by Father Vincent DSouza, director of CODP, with flowers, shawls, and gifts. The program was held at Mother Teresa Hall. Doris Fernandes, Coordinator of CSP, the Child Sponsorship Program, an initiative of CODP, hosted the meeting and welcomed the guests. Ninisha Monteiro, a child beneficiary who has won numerous awards in various competitions, performed a welcome dance and song.
Since it was a school day, six children and their parents participated. The Joy for Kids coordinator spoke to the children and asked them questions about their schoolwork, details of the courses they had taken, and what they planned to do after completing their studies. Vincent Dsouza clarified with Joy for Kids coordinators the maximum level of study a student can be sponsored for, and that sponsorship continues until the student’s studies are completed, even if the student intends to study beyond graduation. I made it.
The CSP coordinator also asked about the sending of accounting sheets to Joy for children and about students whose sponsorship activities were repeated in two homes. The discussion continued for a while, and we came to the conclusion that we would discuss the matter with the other person’s family, confirm the situation and needs of the other family, and then discuss it with the sponsor. Then Fr. Vincent also raised the demand for an increase in the fee structure for the beneficiaries as school fees are high in Mangalore. A guest of the agency Joy for Kids asked the CODP NGO to investigate the various fee structures of rural schools and send a report to support the demand for higher scholarships.
Suzana, brother of student Sonia, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to the foreign institution coordinators for their selfless service to the children of India and for visiting India from far away countries.
Father Vincent DSouza introduced all the CSPs and CODP staff working at CODP. He told the Coordinator that CSP staff were happy to work with him and that he had no problems as the responses were very quick and to the point. They said they had no complaints and were very satisfied with the work done by CSP, CODP.
After this, a tea session was organized for guests and students. We took photos with CODP staff and Joy for Kids coordinator students. CODP’s visitor list was full of memorable words from visitors from Belgium. The guests expressed great gratitude for their hospitality. They left CODP around 4:15 p.m.
The visit was a success as the guests left us satisfied with their satisfied smiles.
