FAS suspends lawmaker for alleged violation
The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has provisionally suspended Councilor Global Football Academy head coach Halim Ali for possible violations. The Straits Times reported that an FAS spokesperson said council members’ duties had been reassigned accordingly and the agency would not comment further until the ethics committee completed its findings.
According to a report by ST, the “possible leak” pointed out by FAS comes from an allegedly leaked document that surfaced after an investigation into the men’s U-22 national soccer team’s performance at the 2023 SEA Games held in May. It is said that it is related to. Following the team’s disastrous defeat, including a 7-0 loss to Malaysia, a four-member committee was convened in the same month, and Herman was one of the members.
Although the FAS did not publish the full report submitted by the committee, it did eventually release a list of 10 recommendations to be addressed after its review in July. Prior to that, on June 30th, the online publication The Monitor SG published an article based on “some of the reviews” I had seen.
Mr Harman, who is also the head coach of GFA Sporting Westlake FC in Singapore Football League Division 2, has since hired a lawyer to deal with the matter. He was also part of Hogan United chairman Bill Ng’s team Game Changers, which competed against the late Lim Kia Tong’s team in the 2017 FAS elections.
