Ministry of Health recommends use of masks due to rise in influenza and coronavirus infections in Spain

Considering that the increase in respiratory infections such as influenza and Covid-19 increased by 37.17% in the last week, the Spanish Ministry of Health recommends hand hygiene, covering your nose or wearing a mask. They announced recommendations to prevent the spread of infection. Avoid your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and use a mask if you develop symptoms consistent with a respiratory infection.

The use of tissue to contain respiratory droplets and secretions is also recommended. After use, please throw it away in a nearby garbage bag. Wash your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand gel regularly and after contact with respiratory secretions.

Finally, it is recommended to follow vaccination guidelines against respiratory microorganisms and avoid going to work with symptoms of illness whenever possible.

According to the weekly Sentinel Surveillance of Acute Phase Report, the incidence of acute respiratory diseases in primary care in Spain is currently 739.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase of 37.17% compared to the previous week (539.4, especially for influenza). It has increased. Furthermore, the incidence of influenza in primary care is on the rise and is evident in all age groups. In fact, the infection rate is 159.2 per 100,000 residents (up from 68.2 per 100,000 the previous week), an increase of 133 percent in just seven days.
