The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has set a new record for annual vessel arrivals of 3 billion gross tons (GT) in 2023.
On December 25, 2023, Singapore-flagged container ship ONE Olympus arrived at Pasir Panjang Terminal, marking the milestone of 3 billion gross tons.
The annual tonnage of ships arriving at Singapore Port will exceed 3 billion tons in 2023, up from 2.83 billion tons in 2022.
This achievement was recognized at the PSA Horizons event hosted by MPA. Acting Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat presided over the ceremony, which was attended by representatives from the maritime sector.
Mr. Chee presented mementos to Captain Vaibhav Narula, Master of ONE Olympus, and Jeremy Nixon, Global Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Network Express (ONE).

MPA chief executive Teo Eng Dih said: “We are humbled that Singapore continues to be our port of choice. We will continue to work with all three parties to improve the efficiency and safety of our ports.
“Launching Just-in-Time (JIT) Planning and Coordination Platform on October 1st this year [2023] One such initiative is for ships calling at PSA Terminal and Jurong Port.
“The JIT platform will help improve vessel turnaround and optimize port calls, thereby reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships. From January 2024, all ports calling in Singapore will It will be gradually expanded to ships.”

In September 2023, the Port of Rotterdam Authority, MPA Singapore and 20 Green & Digital Shipping Corridor partners joined forces to reduce emissions from international shipping by 2030.
