“My Name is Ro Ki-wan”, which is based on Cho Hye-jin’s novel “I Met Ro Ki-wan (literal translation)”, tells the story of his encounter with North Korean defector Ro Ki-wan, played by Sung Joon, his farewell, and It depicts a romance story. Ki), who arrives in Belgium with her last hope, and Marie (Choi Sung-woong), a woman who has lost her will to live.
The film’s teaser tells the story of Lo Kiwan’s arrival in Belgium. After waiting anxiously in front of immigration, Lo Kiwan finally crosses into Belgium, only to find that in this strange land he is faced with nothing but bitter cold, hunger, and loneliness. as his only companion.
We get a glimpse of Lo Ki-wan’s life in North Korea as he attempts to be recognized as a refugee. Despite his efforts, he is informed that “at this time we cannot confirm that you are from North Korea” and, unable to bear the situation any further, he collapses to the ground.
Despite this, Ro Ki-wan meets Marie (Choi Sung-woong), a Korean marksman who has Belgian nationality and has lost the will to live.
The teaser ends with Lo Ki-wan’s words, “I was able to come this far because I promised myself that no matter what hell I went through here, I would endure and overcome it.My name is Lo Ki-wan.”
Along with the teaser, the producers also released a poster for the film featuring Song Joong Ki standing in the middle of a crowd, with the words, “I am determined to survive in this land.”
“My Name is Lo Kiwan” will premiere on OTT on March 1, 2024.
