Logistics development company Panattoni has announced plans to expand its business in Europe by entering the Belgian market.

Mr. Panattoni appointed Jeroen Gerritsen as general manager in Belgium to lead the new business.

With major ports and connections to key European markets such as Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK, Belgium is considered an important transit point in Europe’s logistics sector.

Panattoni said the growing demand for high-quality, sustainable logistics facilities in Belgium is in line with the company’s commitment to make all new developments net-zero carbon by 2025.

Panattoni’s first development in Belgium will be in Wallonia. Construction is expected to begin in the fall.

Robert Dobrzycki, CEO and co-owner of Panattoni Europe, UK and India, said: “Belgium is the central hub for Europe’s logistics sector.”

To support this expansion, Panattoni has appointed Jolen van Hout as Technical Development Director in Belgium, with further appointments to be made soon.

Van Hout brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise with more than 12 years of experience in both the public and private sectors of the construction industry, including as project manager for Heylen Warehouses and the City of Westerlo, County of Antwerp.

In his new role as Director of Technology Development, Mr. Van Hout will manage relationships with the public sector, contractors, architects, engineering and other technology consulting firms.

During the project development process, you will oversee the technical feasibility study of the acquisition, integration of the project into the zoning plan, design realization, engineering, planning, budgeting, and guiding the construction process.
