new york — The Department of Buildings is investigating the city’s second partial building collapse in the past month.
The latest incident occurred at the corner of Grand and Mulberry streets in Little Italy.
The hole in the wall where the facade had collapsed was clearly visible. Part of the construction fence collapsed due to the collapse.
The FDNY said its K-9 unit completed a search of the building and no one was trapped in the rubble.
There are several businesses nearby, but investigators said there were no reports of injuries.
The affected building is actually where the Areva Dairy Store was located. It was known as one of the oldest cheese shops in the country until it closed in March of last year.
