The Peace Center is about to be demolished, and what better way to see it off than with a big party? Organized by Bring the Roof Down, an initiative to revive Singapore’s iconic spaces, the Peace Out Festival promises an explosion of music, art and culture.
It’s a fitting final hurray to the beloved fiercest of 1 Sofia Street. The Pioneer Mall began as a hub for learning centers, printing shops, tailoring shops, and more. Over the years, the Peace Center developed a reputation as a dingy (seedy) shopping mall, fading into the background as newer, shinier shopping malls sprung up. But in its dying days, the Peace Center has become a playground for vintage shops, thrift stores, and grassroots movements like Play Pan, which turned abandoned shopping malls into spaces for creative expression.
PeaceOut Festival embodies that spirit with a diverse lineup of music, performances, and a festival flea market. 16 DJs fill the hallways with electrifying beats of techno, house, Afrobeats, desi music, and more. A brief introduction to the lineup: DJ Nadd, Ollie’des, Prodigi (Australia), Demi Riquisimo (UK). The LGBTQIA+ community will also be in the spotlight, represented by House of Heels Bangkok’s celebrated queens, Angele, Annan and Zepi, with more vibrant experiences in store with Unleash.
Early bird tickets for PeaceOut Festival are currently sold out. General admission tickets are on sale for $58. Visit Bring the Roof Down’s Instagram page to get your tickets and stay up to date on festival activities.
