Singapore Air Show, Xperia Event and Minister of Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen
I am a concerned Singaporean deeply affected by the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza. The war displaced nearly the entire population of the Gaza Strip, caused alarming rates of civilian casualties, and severely deprived Palestinians of their basic human rights.
The nine companies invited to the February 2024 Singapore Air Show continue to supply weapons to the State of Israel despite continued atrocities against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Companies are
Israel Aerospace Industries, a state-owned manufacturer of military systems and a major supplier to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Elbit Systems is Israel’s largest arms manufacturer and one of the IDF’s main suppliers.
Tomer is an Israeli government-owned company that manufactures rocket systems for air and ground weapons used by the Israel Defense Forces.
SIBAT helps Israel profit from weapons used indiscriminately against Palestinian civilians
BAE Systems supplies parts for the Lockheed Martin F35 fighter jets currently flown by the IDF.
Boeing supplied thousands of bombs to the Israel Defense Forces between October 7, 2023 and now
The chief financial officer of General Dynamics, which sells cannons and bombs to Israel, has made some nasty comments about the “potential increase in demand” resulting from Israel’s war in Gaza.
Lockheed Martin continues to supply fighter jets and Hellfire missiles to the Israel Defense Forces despite its continued war crimes and atrocities against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Northrop Grumman supplies Israel with parts used in missile systems and fighter jets.
Some of the companies named above frequently advertise that their systems and weapons are “combat-tested,” but this is true before these weapons and technologies are exported around the world. , a horrifying euphemism for the fact that it is being tested on Palestinian civilians in clear disregard for basic human rights. .
In addition, it was learned that several aviation and static exhibitions by our Air Force (RSAF) will also display drones and aircraft produced by the above-mentioned companies. Many of these are also used to kill hundreds of men, women, and children in Gaza every day. These are listed below
F15 fighter jet built by Boeing, flown by IDF
AH-64D Apache helicopter, manufactured by Boeing
F16 fighter jet built by Lockheed Martin and flown by the Israel Defense Forces
CH-47F helicopter, manufactured by Boeing
The Hermes 450, manufactured by Elbit Systems, is said to be the “backbone” of the Israeli military’s drone fleet.
Heron 1, a drone manufactured by Israeli Aerospace Industries and used by the IDF
Israel’s use of these military systems and technologies in the Gaza war resulted in the killing of civilians at an alarming rate of more than 27,000 people in four months. Israel has indiscriminately bombed civilian areas of Gaza, deliberately restricted the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, targeted journalists, medical workers, and hospitals, and killed more than 1,000 Gaza children (many In some cases, limbs had to be amputated (without anesthesia). These weapons and technologies were used to wipe out entire generations of families.
The State of Israel has deliberately caused one of the most abhorrent humanitarian crises of modern times. He continues to commit horrific war crimes and is currently under investigation by the International Court of Justice for genocide.
The Singapore Airshow, one of Asia’s largest aerospace and defense events, plays an influential role in this scenario. It chooses to highlight the companies that are enabling and profiting from this war, companies that indirectly support Israel’s human rights abuses in Gaza. By continuing to associate with such entities, Singapore Air Show is complicit in their conduct. We, the people of Singapore, urge you to stand up against these injustices.
We call on the Minister of Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, and the organizers of the 2024 Singapore Air Show to:
Divest the nine companies mentioned above that enable and profit from Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza.
Prohibit the display of the six war machines listed above that are manufactured by companies complicit in war profits or are blatantly being used to flatten Gaza and terrorize innocent people.
Through this action, we can send a powerful message to Singaporeans and the world that profit should never come at the expense of human life and dignity. There is no place in our country for corporations that advocate brutality, apartheid, and genocide.
