Princess Elizabeth of Belgium is said to have formed an “instant bond” with a student at Rochdale University, but his family insists the pair “just study together”.
According to Belgian media, Nicolas Dodd, 20, is said to have a relationship that goes “beyond friendship” with Princess Elisabeth.
Mr Dodd, from Rochdale, is said to have met the princess, the eldest son of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, when he began studying history and politics at Oxford University.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, he is reading History at the same university.
According to the magazine, the two “hit it off right away” after joining the same research group.
But Dodd’s relatives have since shut down speculation.

“No, that is incorrect,” they told the Manchester Evening News.
“They just go to the same university and study together. Like all of his friends, I can’t comment further.”
According to television station RTL, the palace declined to comment on the rumors.
“We do not respond to rumors about the private lives of members of the royal family,” the statement said.
When Princess Elisabeth’s father became king in 2013, she became heir to the throne and became Duchess of Brabant.
She performed royal duties from an early age and gave a speech at just nine years old.
Meanwhile, Mr Dodd is said to have gone to Rochdale Sixth Form and lives with his mother.
After being accepted to Oxford University, he appeared on the sixth form website, stating that he had chosen to apply to Oxford for the opportunity to “study at a world-class university”.
