The research* analyzed attitudes in different regions across the UK, as well as other factors such as income and relationship status, to show how regional opinions differ.

Key insights from the study:

  • 22% of Brits would choose Spain if they were to move abroad to work remotely, followed by the US (19%) and France (13%).
  • People from Yorkshire and Wales are more than a third less likely to consider moving abroad for work than Scots.
  • For 31% of Brits, the biggest financial concern about moving abroad is healthcare costs. This is no surprise when you compare it to our amazing NHS.
  • Londoners are most likely to think they have more purchasing power in Spain (43%)
  • Wealthier respondents generally seem less likely to consider moving abroad

The survey also investigated knowledge and opinions about Spain’s digital nomad visa and found that 89% of respondents were unaware of the scheme.

Overall,* the survey highlighted some interesting perspectives from working professionals in the UK. The results highlight the need for more detailed information about digital work visas and the linguistic, economic and cultural challenges they face before making important decisions such as moving abroad for work. .

*Nebeus surveyed 400 working-age professionals in the UK. Questions were a combination of quantitative and qualitative to allow manual analysis of statistical data and responses.
