Report: Italy, UK and Germany rank among Romanians’ top New Year’s Eve destinations
According to online travel agency Vola.ro, the European countries where Romanians booked the most flights on New Year’s Eve were Italy, the UK and Germany.
“Romanians are preparing for their last trip of 2023 and New Year’s Eve abroad, with European countries once again at the top of their wishes,” the company said in a press release, quoted by News.ro.
Vola.ro also analyzed flights from Romania at the end of the year. Regarding the European countries where New Year’s Eve tickets are most booked, Italy was most often found as the favorite destination of Romanian tourists, with 22% of bookings, and the United Kingdom with 14% of bookings. , which accounts for 9% of reservations in Germany. Each of the above countries has a large Romanian community.
When it comes to Romanians’ favorite European cities, London, Paris, Milan, Vienna and Rome, known as city break destinations, top the list. Brussels, Dublin, Munich, Venice and Athens are also on the list.
Otopeni Airport will continue to be crowded during the next period. 83% of flights booked on Vola.ro on New Year’s Eve will be operated here. Otopeni is followed by airports in Iași, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Sibiu, Bacau, Craiova, Suceava and Oradea. The cheapest flight on New Year’s Eve was the Bucharest-Vienna route for 36 euros.
The average ticket fare paid by passengers during the New Year period is 198 euros to destinations in Europe. More than 95% of his bookings made on the platform on New Year’s Eve were for Europe, with the remaining percentage split almost evenly between destinations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Most Romanians planned for the New Year in advance and booked their holiday tickets well in advance, with more than half booking their tickets between 30 and 90 days before their flight date. The average length of stay during the year-end and New Year holidays is 4.5 days.
